Super Amateurs

  Supercross is the #1 professional motorcycle racing discipline in the country today. Boulder City Motocross in Nevada gave all the amateurs in the area a chance to ride on a supercross track for themselves. Granted it wasn't the full on supercross track like you would see on TV, but it had many of the same elements you would see on SpeedTV^©. Rhythm sections, whoops, sand section, (my favorite!) double jumps & 180 degree turns among them.

  They built the track in the area that is occupied by the vet track, so they didn't have a very large area in which to do it. The track reminded me of an arenacross track but had a cool design considering the amount of room they had to work with. All in all it was a great night of MX action in which I think everyone had a good time !!!

Two Ways To Take The Obstacles

  As always things went very well at BCMX from what I could see. No major incidents and only one ambulance run that I can recall. I hope that they are OK. The last time I was out at Boulder City MX was in early May, it seems that they now have some new flaggers that appear to be a lot more competent and interested in what's going on than the crew that was there in May. The quality of the flaggers is what I think is an under-considered aspect of track safety when one decides on where to ride. Big props go out to everyone again at BCMX for making things go pretty smooth on the night.

  From what I understand Boulder City Motocross is rebuilding the Vet track after this event, so it should be interesting to have a new design to ride (and photograph). So as I try to remind often, please go out and visit the local tracks. They're trying to mix things up a bit to try and keep it fresh. So they can really use our support.

Ponca City via Boulder City

Ponca City Bound.....  or Not

There wasn't a very large turnout for this first of two Ponca City qualifying races held at Boulder City Motocross this year. But the ones that came out for this event were definitely some really talented riders.

Once again all the fine folks from BCMX had the track groomed to perfection as you come to expect from them!!! If you haven't been out to any of the local tracks lately now is the time, before it gets too hot, to give them a little support.
