ChampionsNevada/California State Motocross Championships The day dawned bright & clear, as always here in the desert southwest. But by the end of this beautiful day there will be champions crowned. From the 50cc beginners... Future Champions ???
To the 450cc pros... Is There a Champion in This Picture?
These winners will be champions. That's something that can never be taken away from them. Plus I can say I photographed champions. For us amateurs it's not every day that you can say that. This was a much anticipated event put on by Clark, Kit and all the great people out at Sandy Valley Motocross. I was really looking forward for this race when it was announced. Whippin'
With some new sand, new signs & a new first turn at the start, SVMX was hoppin' when I pulled in to park. The lot was so full I had to park outside the fence. I was psyched !!! With a freestyle exhibition & a band playing after the days racing events were over, Sandy Valley MX was the place to be on this awesome spring day. The only thing missing was a fireworks show. Oh well, maybe next year.
 Hot Fun ....
 Hot Music .....
So if you weren't out at Sandy Valley Motocross for this first annual MX championship, well, I guess you missed it !!! Your just going to have to check out my pictures to get a feel what it was like. So when you see the advertisements next year for the 2nd annual NV/CA Motocross Championships, make sure you clear a spot on your schedule for it. Once again I want to thank all the people out at SVMX for putting on such a fabulous event & letting me out on the track to get these awesome pictures of all the great riders that participated in this event. To see all the pictures from this AWESOME event, please visit my Photo Gallery HERE . I posted a few more of my favorite pictures from this event on the second page. A Sandy Day at Dusty Valley
Or something like that. MRAN's (Motorcycle Racing Association of Nevada) newest club, Sandy Valley MC, held their first event on Saturday April 26, 2008 at Sandy Valley Motocross in CA. The Sandy Valley Gran Prix was held at the mx track with a lot of additional course laid out across the valley. There was an exceptional turn out for this the third MRAN GP of the year. From the fun looking jumps to the two foot deep dust piles, it seemed that everyone was having a good time !! Except for some of the riders that were having a hard time with them crazy dust holes. That dust or silt made for some GREAT pictures, but some riders looked like they were going thru mud !!
 WOW
I guess that's why SOME riders were cutting the track by up to 100 feet
just to avoid all that stuff. There was even one instance where friends
or family members were showing the rider where to go to avoid the dust (and the
course marker ribbon). I don't know how fair that is to the riders that
stayed on the marked course. But with the size of the course it would
be a little hard to have track marshals at every point where someone
could cheat. There needs to be some more "self policing" or honesty to make it fairer. Awesome GP Track !!!
I didn't see any bad crashes myself but I did see the ambulance make one run and I hear a youngster broke his leg. I hope he heals quick and gets back to riding soon. Safe Fun Jumps
The weather co-operated for the most part. It definitely got windy once the day wore on. There were even a few cool looking dust devils that are pictured in the gallery. I think my camera saw more dust today than all the races put together in the three years since I got it. Dusty Valley ???
As usual Clark, Kit and all the fine people out at Sandy Valley MX did a wonderful job prepping the course. They were even watering a lot of the course between races. It's not too often that the course get watered during a grand prix race. Other than when Mother Nature provides it, of course. It was a long day, but I think all in all, that it was enjoyed by everybody. Please take the time to visit the websites of these two fine organizations that put this event together: SVMX & MRAN !!
