The Scene at Scenic

Really Great Scenery

 - when I first arrived, was one of horror. Six inches of sloppy mud greeted everyone before they even got to see the track. Like Floating in the CloudsThen there was about a quarter mile drive up a fairly steep, muddy, one lane driveway up to the track. There were a few people leaving so I was a little hesitant to head up, thinking I willAlone? get stuck when I have to move over for somebody coming down. There was a lady in a Jeep sitting at the bottom a little hesitant also. Plus there were two HUGE motorhomes with trailers that didn't even try it, so they used the road as the pit !!! It was 10:00 & I contemplated going over to Malvern. Screw it, I put it in low gear & headed up the drive. Spun the tires the whole way up, just like winter. (I hate that word) I found out later Tim, the Thats No Hillclimbowner of Scenic Highlands, spent the day till about then pulling people up the hill. Man am I glad I didn't leave for someplace else !!!    Tim was ripping the track when I finally parked, while the announcer was updating the days schedule. Slighly shortened, but nothing cancelled. Having  never been to Scenic I didn't know what to expect other than .....

what the "aerial" photo on their web page shows. That is no aerial shot of the track, it was taken from a little rise next to the 1/2 mile driveway. But it looks more awesome in person than in the "aerial" shot !!! What a great first look of the track. After an abbreviated practice session the racing began about 12:30 PM . It turned out to be a perfect day for racing. If you have never been to Scenic Highlands like I hadn't, you definitely have to make the trip. You also will see why it's called Scenic Highlands. It has some of the most spectacular scenery you will see at about any track in the area. I will be back to Scenic again soon.  With all the rain, all the mud, all I can say is -

Really Great Job Tim !!!
